Eastern Cape health department woes make it
the poster child for gross ineptitude

The Eastern Cape health department remains a perennial underperformer in health outcomes and is habitually in news headlines for various scandals, ranging from 
overwhelmed hospitals to staff shortages, high infant mortality rates, non-payment of suppliers, cadre deployment and rampant corruption.

On September 23, the Breede Valley municipality presented title deeds to new homeowners in Zweletemba, reporting: “The handover ceremony was very successful. Most of the new home owners came to collect their Title Deeds.” Present were the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, a Ward Councillor, the Human Settlement Manager, a Communications Officer and several Housing Officials.
